Orlando, FL – September 2012 Multicom, Inc announced today that they have been granted approval by the Customs and Border Patrol to operate a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) at Multicom’s facility in Longwood, Florida. This follows months of effort in conjunction with the Sanford-Orlando Airport Authority which controls the “umbrella” FTZ under which the Multicom FTZ will operate.

Multicom prides itself on having developed relationships with 270 of the world’s leading manufacturers. With more than 13,000 products available, Multicom has the solution for any industry application. These products are used to acquire, process and distribute audio, video, data, energy and traffic control signals over fiber optic, copper and coax cable.

Multicom imports many foreign manufactured products that are branded with the Multicom name. These are sold primarily outside of the United States and account for an increasing portion of overall sales. The FTZ allows for imported goods to be received duty-free and only incur duty if shipped to customers inside the United States.

Multicom President, Sherman Miller, states that having the FTZ will allow the company to compete more effectively in the Central and South American markets. “Paying US duties on products that were imported from foreign sources and then shipped out of the country added unnecessary costs that reduced our competitiveness. The FTZ allows us to eliminate these duties and will help us increase our sales to this growing market.”

Multicom’s achievements in the international marketplace have been recognized with The President’s “E” Award presented by the US President to Multicom in acknowledgment of Multicom’s outstanding contributions to the expansion of exports of US manufacturer products.

Established in 1982 and headquartered in Orlando, FL, Multicom maintains sales offices, rep agencies and sub-distributors throughout North and Latin America and the Caribbean. Its affiliate company, Mconnect, Inc. provides Next Level VoIP residential and business telephone services through resellers and cable operators.
