Orlando, FL – December 2011 Multicom, Inc., a manufacturer and full-line stocking distributor for end-to-end integration of video-data-voice solutions, is proud to introduce its Optical Transport Chassis (OTC) and OTC Modules line – a chassis and a wide range of fiberoptic transmitter and receiver modules comprising a compact and unified optical transport system, ideally suited and flexibly configurable for use in RFoG, GPON, and FTTx and many other fiber optic-based data, video, and voice networks – including Broadband Stimulus and FCC National Broadband projects and applications.
This compact new product offering takes an entire rack of equipment and provides it all in a compact chassis. The OTC is a 4RU, 19” rack mountable chassis with 14 universal service slots. It includes a card cage, controller, redundant power supplies and cooling. The OTC is SNMP managed or can be operated from the front panel. It supports a wide variety of long-haul, HFC, RFoG, and PON-RF Overlay applications.
Service modules for the OTC system are hot-swappable, single wide devices – modules can be placed in any slot in almost any combination. OTC modules are automatically configured for operation in seconds, making the Multicom OTC and OTC module architecture one of the most versatile and efficient fiberoptic transport systems in the industry. The OTC Service Modules include:
1310nm Transmitter Module – Supporting HFC and video transport applications. Available with output power from +6dBm to +14dBm for use in long-haul or HFC applications. Up to fourteen 1310nm transmitter modules can be installed in one OTC shelf.
1550nm Transmitter Module – Supports the HFC, RFoG, PON overlay and long-haul applications. Available with +6dBm, +8dBm or +10dBm output power for use in either long distance transmission, or to serve multiple EDFAs in overlay/RFoG applications. Up to fourteen 1550nm transmitter modules can be installed in one OTC shelf.
EDFA Module – A high performance low cost optical amplifier for 1550nm optical networks. It is available with total optical power from 19dBm to 22dBm with one or two optical outputs. Up to 28 optical distribution links can be served from a single OTC shelf
HFC Return Path Receiver Module – A robust low cost return path receiver designed for HFC/DOCSIS3 networks. Each module contains two independent receivers. Up to 28 HFC return paths can be served from a single OTC shelf.
RFoG Return Path Receiver Module – Designed specifically for RFoG applications. Each module contains two independent receivers. Up to 28 RFoG return paths can be served from a single OTC shelf.
