Description

The CATVLite Series Force, Incorporated Model 2801 VSB/AM Fiber Optic Video Link provides a high-quality system for transferring five video channels per multimode fiber with complete EMI immunity via fiber optics. The unit offers exceptional analog bandwidth from 5 MHz to over 250 MHz allowing transmission of all sub-band channels, low-band channels, FM channels, mid-band and h-band channels. (i.e. Channels T7-T13, 2-6, A5-A1, AI, 7-13.) The units may also be used for 6 MHz TV IF (45.75 MHz) and satellite IF (70 MHz) transmission.
The best performance is achieved when the channel plan is designed to contain all of the channels within a single octave of bandwidth. The carrier-to-noise (CNR) ratio typically exceeds 44 dB at low optical loss. The units also offer exceptional performance at lower channel loadings. A state-of-the-art 1300 nm LED and PIN detector is used to achieve the performance levels cited. This product is recommended for use with 62.5/125 nm fibers only. A minimum fiber bandwidth of 250 MHz is required.
It is very important to provide the proper RF signal level to the 2801 transmitter. Exceeding the RF input level may destroy the transmitter. The transmitter includes a built-in RF level indicator that allows the optimum RF input level to be quickly and positively identified. A single multicolored LED is used to indicate the RF input level. If the LED is yellow, the RF input level is too low. If it is green, the RF input level falls within the optimum range. When the RF input level is too high, the LED will be red. Ideally, the RF power level will be centered within the green range. The level LED also provides a positive indication of unit power. See AN128 “Care and Feeding of Analog CATV Fiber Optic Links” for information on achieving the proper RF input levels.
